Case Research Project- Precista Tools AG Essay

Introduction

The primary story of the watch case Precista Tool AG is approximately the discord in a friends and family business, which in turn showed in the following areas: (1) Parent-child conflicts & family mechanics; (2) Management succession problems; (3) Business-family complications and (4) The plight of women managers. Mr. Huebel and his little girl Greta have different insights in several aspects in the management of the business following Greta was appointed while the director of financial and administrator in the company in 1983. During this period of time, Mr. Heubel's strong sense of attachment, unwillingness to give up control and electric power and unwillingness to assign interfered with Greta's management method. Variations in values, vision and managing styles causes conflict, leading to stretched relationships, rivalry and electricity struggle. In the flowing many years, the father and daughter's issue became severe as Mr. Huebel's boy joined the company. Mr. Huebel played away offspring against one another and wanted his only son Peter as the successor with the company. An emotional participation with his child greatly damaged Greta's feeling and doing work attitude. On the other hand, as a female minority without engineering skills, Greta felt the pressure coming from the tradition that males should be the decision maker from the company in engineering region. There is also a few conflict among Mr. Heubel's family and the Non-family supervision member in the company. The insufficient interaction severe the conflict and lastly Greta chose to resign from the company.

The conflict in case is complicated. I will assess the case by multiple point of view in the following pages.

Evaluation of the case coming from multiple perspectives

1 . The Structural Framework is about how to organize and structure groups and groups to benefit. The " structural" administrator tries to design and style and put into practice a process or perhaps structure ideal to the issue and the instances. This includes:

*to clarify company goals

*manage the exterior environment

*develop a clear framework appropriate to task, and environment

*clarify lines of authority

*Focus on activity, facts, logic, not individuality and emotions

This approach is useful when goals and information are clear, when cause-effect relations are very well understood, the moment technologies will be strong and there is little conflict, low double entendre, low uncertainness, and a stable legitimate expert.

In this case, we can see that Mr. Heubel does not develop a clear structure suitable to task and environment and does not clarify lines of authority. Alternatively, he will not focus on the task, fact and logic, rather, he concentrate on emotions. He wanted his only boy to be the replacement, beneficiary of the firm. He would not stand from your point in the development of the company but coming from her personal emotion and preference. This individual tried to interest Peter to the company and want him to be the decision maker yet he neglected that Philip may lack of management experience of engineering backdrop. From the strength frame viewpoint, Mr. Heubel made two big faults: (1). Not focus on job and the development of the company on its own, but give attention to the employees - who had been the " better" replacement, beneficiary in his head. (2) He does not have the clear idea about what is a appropriate framework of the company, what is the definite aim and how to deal with the company and the external environment.

Recommendation pertaining to Mr. Heubel from strength frame perspective: (1) arranged objectives and coordinate solutions. Recruit high qualified person to policy for the appropriate composition for the business and focus on the task and goal from the company. (2) Make logical decision; (3) reorganize the business and realign roles and responsibilities to fit tasks; (4) keep organization leaded in right course.
