Of Rats and Men and The Scarlet Letter

Of Mice and Men's George and The Scarlet Letter's Hester Prynne the main characters during these two books. Both are confusing by the people around them. Of Mice and Men was written in 1937 simply by John Steinbeck to show one of the most vulnerable persons in world at that time. The Scarlet Page was authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850 to demonstrate the way of lifestyle for the Puritan culture and the approach some had been punished or misunderstood as a result of not following Puritan techniques. In Of Mice and Men and The Scarlet Letter Steinbeck and Hawthorne discuss a common motif between the two novels. By simply comparing and contrasting the characters, setting, and disputes it is illustrated that people will be being away casted simply by society mainly because they have dedicated crimes through the novels. Although comparing and contrasting George from Of Mice and Men and Hester in the Scarlet Notification, one will discover they have a large number of similarities and differences. This proves so why and or just how these personas are mistreated and away casted by the society they will live in. Pertaining to examples of commonalities George and Hester both equally had burdens to deal with and being out casted by people that they love plus they protect. George and Hester also both equally planned approaches to escape their lives. George tells Lennie countless time in the first chapters in Of Rats and Men how "[he] could get along so easy so nice if perhaps he didn't have [him] on [his] tail” proclaiming that George knows his life would be much easier if perhaps he did not have Lennie to take care of (Steinbeck 7). George is out casted by Lennie in many ways including, George being run " outta Weed” due to the poor things Lennie did (Steinbeck 7). Even though, George would have turned Lennie in for what he performed in weed he wanted to protect him so , George had no other choice than to leave with Lennie and hide in the forest until they ran much enough to find another task and place to be. George was forced to capture Lennie at the conclusion of Of Mice and Men to protect him via being tortured by Curley and the rest of the men. George tells Lennie " Ever'body gonna be nice to [him], ” and that "[he] ain't will be in no difficulty. No human body hurt…nor steal from ‘em, ” to create Lennie think everything will probably be fine (Steinbeck 106). Just before George had to kill Lennie he place the idea of a " small house and a couple of miles, ” in Lennie's head where they could live and, Lennie could not enter into any trouble (Steinbeck 14). Following George must kill Lennie he discovers this desire will never become real for him. Like George, Hester inside the Scarlet Notification has many burdens of her own. After she is offered her consequence for coitus by " reveal[ing] the scarlet notification on her breast” she is required of holding the burden of hiding Dimmesdale's identity by all the other townspeople, and concealing Chillingworth id from Dimmesdale and the remaining town. (Hawthorne 52). The moment Dimmesdale does not reveal who have he is looking at everyone when he has the opportunity he is pushing Hester and Pearl to be the outcast in the town. No person wants to become caught conversing with the sinner of the city, so Hester is forced to always be all alone. The lady and Gem live in a " forlorn dwelling” outside of the town " without a friend” Hester just has Gem to be in her organization (Hawthorne 54). At the ending of the story Hester and Dimmesdale meet in the forest to talk. Right now there they plan to have a " simple journey [that] would bring [them] from a world had been [they] have been most wretched, to one were [they] [may] still be happy” (Hawthorne 132). The two intend to get on a boat, cruise to Great britain and be a cheerful family. The differences in these two novels happen to be that George decides to address his burden as to exactly where Hester does not have choice if she can keep hers or not. George and Hester both deal with things incredibly differently in some situations. By seeing these kinds of differences we all learn that George provides a stronger personality and is working with his circumstance as to where...
